Yeah, I am a facilitator,
So what do I do?
I facilitate.
What’s that?
I enable, I encourage groups to realize their objectives
hmmm….. How?

Well I….. just do it.
How?
By helping them see issues creating problems.
Problems for whom?
For them, of course.
So you know their issues more than them?
Don’t be ridiculous!

What about things they know?
Well…… those are important too
Too?
Actually, they are more important
So what do you do?

I help them explore
Explore what?
Never mind. I help maintain an environment where they can learn and grow.
Who decides that?
I do – I can only speak for what I think.
Hmm…. and you ask them to feel.

I feel too. I share it.
And?
It helps them. It gives them honest data.
And the rest?
Okay, I get them to see the issues I find
What of the ones you don’t see… or don’t want to see…?
What of them?
How do you know that they will not be more important?

See, I sense there may be relevant stuff they don’t see
Of course. What we don’t see is infinite. Its always there!
Yeah, but I sense it
So you know what from the infinite that they don’t see is relevant?

Hey!!!! Gimme a break. I’m human too.
But still….
See, I understand these processes more than them
How come?
I’ve studied them, experienced them, worked with them.
And they haven’t?

Not in so many words, no.
So you know more than them?
Not more, different.
But a more important different than theirs?
Not….. really
And you will not resist it?
Not unless they are avoiding something
Hmmm…. who decides that?

I do, from my experience with them
And that’s foolproof?
I don’t know everything, okay?
Funny, I thought you would – you sounded like that

But I don’t. I’m not all that different from them!
Really?
Yeah, the group does what it does.
Where does that leave you?
With the group – learning and growing!

We have finally announced our Himalayan Treks for this summer. So far, we have planned only two treks each in the Manali and Dharamshala area. I wish we had time for more, but if we have to live up to our dreams of handling our outdoor work personally, there is only so much we can find time for.

I’m quite excited by our plans for this year.

While the tours in themselves are not exotic, or rare in any way, what is special about these is the way we are planning to conduct them – by turning them into highly personal experiences of exploring our own horizons, communicating with the majesty of nature in close quarters and helping each participant create his or her own high memories that go beyond fun and adventure into self discovery, empowerment and personal growth.

Stay tuned to this space – things are going to happen here.

BTW, bookings are still on, and if you live in or near Mumbai and would like to join in, feel free to download the brochure and join this celebration of expanding horizons.

Cheers!

Summer Himalayan Treks 2009

Hi folks,

The new year is certainly beginning on an exciting note at Wide Aware. Here’s to wishing that you guys are all able to create what you want out of the coming year for yourselves as well. May good things happen to you, and may you take those opportunities and turn them into something special.

Here’s the quick update to the Coastal, Coastal Konkan bike trip planned. It is finally all concrete, and we are planned to take off from Mumbai on the 24th Jan and will be back on the 29th early morning. I know its short notice, and I’m sorry.

However, the thing is now final, and we have scheduled time for it taking advantage of Saturday, Sunday and then 26th Jan, which leaves only the 27th and 28th to take leave for most of you, as we will return on the 29th early morning.

For more details, please read the announcement on the blog and the downloadable information sheet.

Reply to this email if you are planning to attend, or call Raka up on his mobile 9869433342

Cheers!

Giving in to popular demand, Wide Aware introduces “Coastal, Coastal Konkan on Bike” – the motorcycle tour we have been promising for a long time. And no, we are not talking about the Mumbai Goa highway, but of routes really along the sea as far as possible.

Another reason for this trip is the jealousy and interest expressed by most friends who hear our happy go lucky wanderings which are unbound by “planned sightseeing”. So now you have no excuse. If you wish for a taste of a life on the move, this is your chance.

Tour dates: 24th Jan 2009 to 29th Jan 2009

The idea is to travel the rural Konkan along the sea. In this journey, we will not be touching the NH17 (National Highway) at all. The journey takes us through the different coastal districts with a stay in each of them – Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.

We hug the coast all through and always take the road that is closest to the sea. At times this means that we will come across creeks interrupting our route, and we will put our bikes on boats to cross over to the other side and continue our ride.

This trip is planned to be the essence of Konkan. Local food, MTDC or similar hotels and local ambiance all through.

Snorkelling in the KonkanThe specialty of this trip is something that can’t be described in terms of places and agendas, but a holistic Konkan experience.

The bike will be yours, the fuel will be yours and the accommodation and food will be provided along the route.

One of the main reasons for this plan is that the NH-17 is crowded and has become a cliché for Konkan, but really, the Konkan is the rural region and the sea beyond the reach of the horn blaring crowds. The season is perfect, and the weather is going to be awesome.

Don’t forget your cameras!

We travel as far as Goa and dump our bikes on Volvos and travel overnight back to Mumbai – giving us the best use of our time for leisure and a quick return that doesn’t bite into our schedule back home.

So what are you waiting for?

PS: The photos of the previous trip that we have are in the gallery under ‘other trips’. They are not particularly good, as they haven’t been shot to convey a story of the trip, but just randomly shot for fun. Raka should be returning with better images from this trip and I will put them up by the first week of Feb.
