Waterfall rappelling (abseiling) outings to Kondana Caves, Karjat this monsoon. Waterfall rappelling or waterfall abseiling near Mumbai has caught people’s imagination. Little did we know when we started three years ago that it would become our only work in the monsoons. Last year, we sold batches out. This year, we have planned more!
Our group will leave Mumbai at 6:00am and go to Kondivade village. After a filling breakfast, we head on to the caves, which is about an hours moderate walk. Once there, we have some time to explore the caves and rappel down the waterfall that curtains the mouth of the cave. The height of the rappel is approximately 120ft.
Rappelling is a means of descending steep vertical faces with the assistance of a rope and specialized equipment. It is a quick and exciting experience. When you combine it with the magic of the Sahyadri in the monsoon, you get to do that exciting descent through a waterfall. You won’t believe how much fun it is, till you experience it.
We walk down to Kondivade for a late lunch and some time to clean and freshen up. We leave for Mumbai post tea in the evening. We should be back by 8pm or so (depending on traffic).
Participation is open for teenagers and above in age, right up to your fifties. Please note that while there is nothing difficult, there is a fair amount of walking and physical exertion involved, and discuss any fitness and health concerns with Raka before confirming your participation.
Charges and timing for waterfall rappelling
Dates announced so far are 3rd July, 17th July and 31st July. Please note all batches subject to a minimum 15 participants.
The fees for this adventure outing are Rs.1,850/- per head. These include travel, breakfast, lunch and tea; and skilled instruction and equipment for the hike and rappelling.
If you would like to join in, please speak with Raghavendra Kale (Raka) directly on 09869433342 between 10am and 6pm. If you are planning on coming, it is important to confirm your attendance as early as possible (at least eight-ten days in advance), as we will be operating on a first-come-first serve.
If you have a group you would like to organize waterfall rappelling for, it is possible. You can ask Raka about availability and charges according to the specifics of your group.
